Today was my last full day of the solo-road trip. So where did I decide to spend my final day? Cambria- the cute little beach town near Hearst Castle! This tiny town has a population of about 6,000, which is even less than my hometown of Ojai, which is about 7,500! This is a huge change from yesterday’s city San Francisco that has a population of about 865,000!

Many people still don’t really know about this area, since the people who drive through it are usually going to tour Hearst Castle (which is what brought me to the area in the first place a year ago). It’s such a charming little spot though!

My experience:

A must-see spot is Moonstone Beach, which offers an uncrowded and beautiful coastline. There are a lot of forts on this beach, which makes for fun pictures. It’s also super windy here… so don’t come in a swimsuit… I wore my dress-like down jacket (granted I am from sunny socal after all).

I also spent some time walking through town and looking at the many old-fashioned buildings. Then I drove through the wealthy neighborhoods and looked at the modern houses in the area. I love doing this sort of thing, just driving around and looking at interesting houses. I used to do this all the time in San Diego, just to see and imagine how different people live. It’s pretty relaxing and inspiring for me.

I just find this city so charming, and think that more people need to visit! Have you been to Cambria or Hearst Castle before? Let me know what you think of it in the comments below! Also if you have any questions about my road trip in general, I will answer them in the comments below too!
